Alan Daly, Firefighter and former Flat Jockey

Age: 45
Based: Wantage
Riding Career: Rode for 15 years, retiring in 2009 with 205 UK winners.   His biggest winner came on Global Dancer on Derby Day.

After retiring as a jockey, Alan undertook extensive training and an intensive recruitment process to become a firefighter for Surrey Fire & Rescue where he’s been based since 2014.  Alan’s understanding of the pressures of being a Jockey combined with his experience attending road traffic collisions, gives him a unique perspective on the risks that jockeys take and the potential consequences of speeding, using a mobile phone or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
