Norwegian international defender Maria Thorisdottir joined the Chelsea ladies in September 2017, shortly before the start of a new WSL1 season, and she went on to play an important role in their Double triumph of the 17/18 season winning the Women’s Super League and the FA Women’s Cup, no stranger to lifting trophies Maria also has the WSL Cup and most recently the Women’s FA Community Shield to her name.
Maria is a World Cup quarter-finalist with Norway having competed at France 2019. She played a crucial role in the finals at centre-half and featured in all five of their matches, including lining up against England in the final eight stage. A versatile player Maria can play in a number of positions on the pitch across defence and midfield.
Describing her playing style, tough tackling Dog lover Maria said: ‘I am maybe like a Viking. I like to go hard into duels, win the ball in the air and try to play my team-mates in well.’
