Molly Pike previews The Barclays FA Women’s Super League

This summers transfer window was one the busiest yet with the record being broken for a women’s transfer. With the level of talent on show this year’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League promises to be one of the best yet.

As the season gets underway we caught up with All Sport Ambassador Molly Pike to hear about the season preparation, Everton’s ambitions for the season and her footballing idols.

You had a fantastic start to the season beating Bristol City 4-0. How has pre-season training been in such a difficult period with Coronavirus and the restrictions that have been in place?

Pre-season has been great. Although there have been restrictions, we made sure that we adapted to the changes very quickly to make sure we can best prepare for the season which as a squad I think we’ve done really well.

What is your best footballing memory you have from the women’s super league?

Playing the Liverpool vs Everton derby at Anfield last season and topping off with a win was an amazing experience. Hopefully, there’s many more of those types of experiences to come in my career.

Champions league spaces for the super league is now top 3, is this the main target for Everton women’s this season?

Yes, most definitely. We are aiming for a Champions League spot this year, so a top 3 finish is our goal.

Who is the best player you’ve played against in the league and what makes them stand out?

Ji So Young, who plays for Chelsea. Her technical ability and awareness of the game really stands out.

What is your favourite ground to play and why?

My favourite ground to play is our new home ground at Walton Hall Park. Everton have done a great job in making it feel like our home. When the fans are allowed to watch it will be a special ground to play at – I can’t wait!

Who is the best team you have played against in the women’s super league?

I would say Arsenal. I was impressed at how well they look after the ball and create chances.

What is your advice for aspiring young women aspiring trying to play in the league?

Work hard and embrace the challenge the league gives you. Learn from the older and more experienced players and make sure you are enjoying every day.

Who is your footballing idol?

My footballing idol is Frank Lampard. I always watched him when I was younger. He is very hardworking and is very professional off the pitch.

Everton have made a fantastic start to the season with two wins from two currently sitting top of the table alongside Arsenal. We wish Molly and all of our All Sport clients partaking in the Women’s Super league all the best for a successful season and we look forward to following what promises to be a closely fought and exciting contest.
